Step 0. Register an account

All applicants will require a user account to access the NCMAS application system.

New applicants will need to register for a user account, and provide an official, work email address from an Australian university, government department, or publicly funded research organisation.

Previous NCMAS applicants will have a user account, but may need to update their personal profile as described below, or request that their account be reactivated. All applicants can manage their account through the NCI self-service portal, Mancini.

Contact NCI user support if you need assistance with user registration: ncmas@nci.org.au

Step 1. Update Personal Details or Personal Career Profile

User-centric data, such as a user's personal profile and research track record information, are stored in the Mancini system to simplify data entry for applicants and workflows for NCMAS. All applicants should log in to the Mancini system and update their personal data and research track record information. Lead Chief Investigators should instruct other Chief Investigators on their proposal to update their personal data and research track record information.

Step 2. Project Details

For a new project, use the "Propose a project" menu in Mancini to create a new project for NCMAS. Select "NCMAS" as the project scheme for your proposal, and enter a project title and brief project description. A short description of two to four sentences is sufficient. Do not enter your full proposal details at this stage. Completion of this step will generate a pre-registration project code of the form "proposal-#####". Record this project code for later reference; you will use it to complete the proposal in the NCMAS application system.

For an existing project, please update the project title, project summary, research classifications and project membership from Step 2 Project Detail.

Step 3. NCMAS Application

The application forms for existing project will be pre-populated with data from the previous NCMAS application as fully as possible for the convenience of applicants. Lead Chief Investigators, Delegated Lead Chief Investigators and Chief Investigators have access to the NCMAS application for a project. Lead CIs, who are responsible for the administration of the project (i.e., resource management and reporting) can use the Mancini system to control the personnel roles for their project.

Email ncmas@nci.org.au or phone 02 6125 3437 if you have difficulties with your NCI account, with the Mancini system or with the NCMAS application system.
